Ned Dunphy made history at the PDRA Thunder Valley Throwdown at Bristol Dragway by earning his first career Pro Boost victory. After putting in years of work in drag racing, Dunphy finally reached the winner’s circle in one of the sport’s toughest classes.

Driving his orange 2024 Camaro, Dunphy put together a strong weekend and saved his best performance for the final round. He lined up against former U.S. Nationals winner Lyle Barnett, making for a tough matchup. Dunphy got the advantage at the starting line with an impressive .013-second reaction time. Even though Barnett’s Camaro made a slightly quicker run, Dunphy’s strong start allowed him to take the win with a 3.632-second pass at 207.08 mph.

The victory was especially meaningful because it marked Dunphy’s first PDRA Pro Boost win. His success shows how much work he and his team have put into competing at this level. Dunphy has already accomplished plenty in drag racing, including winning the 2025 HOT ROD Drag Week championship, but this victory adds another major accomplishment to his racing career.

For Dunphy and his team, the Thunder Valley Throwdown was more than just another race. It was the weekend they finally reached the winner’s circle in Pro Boost. With a strong performance in the final round, Dunphy showed that he is becoming a serious competitor in the class and that there could be many more victories ahead.
