Drag Racing This Past Weekend

This past weekend, August 7–9, drag racing fans had plenty of action to watch across the country. One of the biggest events was the PDRA Thunder Valley Throwdown at Bristol Dragway, where racers competed in professional, sportsman, and Jr. Dragster classes. The event featured three days of intense competition as drivers battled through qualifying and eliminations.

The weekend also showed just how much variety there is in drag racing. From high-powered professional cars to bracket racers and junior drivers, racers of all ages and experience levels were out competing. Events like these are a big part of what keeps drag racing growing, giving drivers the opportunity to race hard while giving fans plenty of exciting passes down the track.

Here in Texas, the racing scene stayed busy as well, with local tracks continuing their summer schedules. The weekend was another reminder that drag racing is more than just the professional series. Tracks across the country were filled with racers, families, and fans enjoying everything from test-and-tunes to full race programs.

Overall, this past weekend was another great one for drag racing. With close competition, fast cars, and racers looking to move one step closer to a win, the sport continues to deliver exciting weekends for fans everywhere. As the 2026 season continues, there is still plenty more racing to come.
